Poutine: Dare to Be Fresh Review

Poutine Store front

Located just after Main and Queen Street (right across from city hall), Poutine: Dare to Be Fresh is a small business with a casual eating experience that is a perfect spot for lunch.

At first, the wide variety of choices can be overwhelming but the restaurant is extremely accommodating. If you can think of it, it can be made into a poutine. We ordered the philly cheesesteak poutine and a special combination of a Mexican poutine with butter chicken. The service was fast and smelled heavenly. The taste was unexpectedly mind blowing. It was so fresh you could pick out the individual flavours in each poutine. Everything about the meal was well cooked and seasoned, making us want more.

On our visit, we were welcomed by an employee named, DJ, who was so attentive in helping us navigate the menu. The restaurant is small and seat-yourself style, which doesn’t allow for the much service but DJ checked on us to see how we liked the food. He was also a good DJ; the music was bumpin’.

The food is delicious but it is a little pricy. If you’re downtown and looking for a cheap meal, this is not the place. But we would go back and eat there again because the food is really good and the portion size is filling (coming from two 5 foot females).

The meals look delicious, but there is no special emphasis placed on presentation. The combination of the smells with the appearance will make your mouth water. This place could give the famous Smoke’s Poutinerie a run for its money. Hopefully, Poutine: Dare to Be Fresh, will be around for years to come.
