I’ve always wanted a little twist in my samosas; chickpeas or maybe some butter chicken inside. But as I’m not a chef, it’s a tough endeavour for me. Luckily, we have a creative, well-renowned fusion chef in Brampton by the name of Rick Matharu. If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s because he is the mastermind behind the Butter Chicken Lasagna, the dish that made him the season 2 winner of Food Network’s Recipe to Riches.
Now, he is taking over Brampton with his creative gourmet samosas through his blog and catering business Rick’s Good Eats. These include The Butter Chicken Samosa, & Punjabi Cheeseburger. He has also added something sweet to the mix – The Ras Malai Cheesecake Samosa, which he created by collaborating with a pastry chef named Simmy Jassal.
A few weeks ago he started out by selling through small catering gigs, a small pop up shop and online orders through www.samosa.today. After positive feedback from friends and family, he decided to have a more permanent home selling his samosas every Friday at Briskit (160 Wilkinson Drive Unit 40), a local Brampton restaurant from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting Friday July 31st, 2015. Click here for the facebook event.
They haven’t specified when they will stop or how the timings will change going forward. We’ll keep you updated, as we find out the details.
